EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE
One disc. Multiple recording sessions.
BurnSure is developing multisession functionality that allows compatible appendable optical media to receive additional recording sessions without necessarily closing the disc after the first write.
Make better use of available disc capacity.
Traditional single-session writing can finalize a disc after recording its initial content.
Multisession provides a different approach.
Where the optical drive and medium support the required operation, additional sessions can be written while previous recorded information remains accessible.
Understand what's already on the disc.
The experimental BurnSure interface distinguishes between:
Existing
Content already recorded in an earlier session.
New
Files selected for the next recording session.
Replace
New project files that use an existing path in the cumulative disc filesystem.
This helps make the resulting disc structure understandable before the next write begins.
Verification remains essential.
Experimental multisession operation requires full SHA-256 verification.
BurnSure also checks relevant session coordinates and media information before an append operation.
What is the current development status?
True multisession support is an active area of BurnSure development.
Initial hardware validation has included successive BD-R recording sessions and independent integrity checks.
Recovery behaviour, drive compatibility and the complete post-write user experience remain subject to further acceptance testing.
Multisession must therefore be regarded as experimental until an officially accepted release states otherwise.
The local v0.2.0a5 development build is linked to draft recovery work. Five recorded BD-R sessions passed an independent cumulative SHA-256 check of 14 files. Existing-session readback recovery has also been tested. These results do not establish universal drive compatibility or post-write firmware acceptance.
