One AppImage, your user account

The AppImage is for Linux x86_64 and includes Python and the Qt interface. It runs as a regular user. Installation needs no root; system packages and optical-drive permissions are managed by your distribution.

Verify after writing

A completed write and a verified disc are separate results. Full SHA-256 checks every manifest entry. Sample checks only the reported coverage. Skipped verification makes no readback claim.

System requirements

  • Linux x86_64 with a graphical desktop and sufficient free staging space for your image.
  • The candidate is built on Ubuntu 24.04 with glibc 2.39. Other distributions and older libraries are not yet accepted as supported.
  • A compatible optical drive, suitable media and access permissions for real writing.
  • System packages: cdrskin; dvd+rw-tools for media inspection; xorriso for experimental Multisession.
  • FUSE for normal AppImage operation. Extracted operation is a manual-update fallback.

Install BurnSure

  1. Download the AppImage above and compare its SHA-256 checksum before running it.
  2. Compare the checksum before launching.
  3. Place the file in your Applications folder and enable “Allow executing file as program”.
  4. Start BurnSure without sudo. Run the AppImage with --doctor if dependencies need checking.
  5. Optionally add a desktop-menu shortcut to the same user-owned file.

To uninstall, close the app and remove the AppImage and your shortcut. Keep pending verification and recovery records until resolved.

Experimental Multisession

Multisession appends new content while preserving existing sessions. Evidence currently covers a tested BU40N/BD-R combination; it is not a universal compatibility claim. BurnSure rechecks the medium and write position, requires Full SHA-256 verification, and keeps the disc appendable unless you explicitly choose to close it.

What if the drive is briefly unavailable?

BurnSure waits for recognition and resumes verification when the expected medium is ready. Close the tray if requested; the disc can stay in it. After a timeout, use Retry verification. Do not start a second burn while readback is pending.

Does it need the internet?

Local preparation, writing and verification work offline. Update checks, explicitly sent diagnostic reports and the voluntary donation page use separate online services. Usage statistics are disabled by default; sending requires explicit consent in Preferences.
