Development and availability.

BurnSure is an actively developed open-source project.

Public release downloads are being prepared.

Follow the development of BurnSure and explore its documented capabilities while the project progresses towards broader availability.

Current development build: v0.2.0a5. Multisession and post-write recovery remain experimental.

System requirements.

• Linux operating system.

• Python 3.12 or newer.

• cdrskin/libburn for physical optical writing.

• A compatible optical drive and medium for real writes.

• PySide6 for the graphical interface.

• Optional media inspection helpers.

• Experimental multisession additionally requires xorrisofs.

Check the documentation for the specific version you intend to use.

Source availability.

BurnSure is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later. A public release is not currently available.

Try a dry-run first.

Want to explore the workflow without writing a physical disc?

BurnSure provides a simulation mode.

For users who already have a development copy, the documented CLI supports this dry-run example.

burnsure burn --dry-run --label "Photo Archive" ~/Pictures/Archive

The simulated workflow is a practical way to become familiar with the application's preparation and verification stages.

Before your first physical write.

Review the selected source files, drive, medium and verification settings.

For important archives, full SHA-256 verification is the recommended choice.
